Top 16 Favourite Fonts
Apple Garamond - this is a fantastic font for graphics or gifs. It’s clear, simple, and comes in regular, italic, bold and italic bold which is super useful
Bebas Neue - probably my favourite gif font because it’s super easy to read, even small and thus your font doesn’t end up taking over your gif. Just really clean.
Eccentric STD - Nice for graphics when you need a bold title. Should be used sparingly.
Felix Titling - just what the name says. Excellent all caps titling font.
Estrya’s Handwriting - fun quirky handwriting font. As with all hand writing fonts, use sparingly.
my word - it’s just a good fat, squishy font for when you need one.
Nouvelle Vague - I’m actually a lot in love with this font and have to stop myself from over using it. It just looks fantastic on graphics.
Powell and Geary - another good, clear all caps font. These types of fonts are really the best for gifs - titling fonts, especially if you are writing out dialogue.
Stony Island NF - Just a fun, bold font.
Sunshine in my soul - my favourite handwritten font, I don’t know why but when used sparsely it’s great.
Sweetly Broken - another great handwritten font - but best used on single words for emphasis.
Trajen Pro - I also really love this font for graphics, I like combining it with handwritten fonts because it’s so big and clear.
Windsong - super flowing handwritten font - I wouldn’t use it on more than one impact word, myself :)
Simple Gallifreyan - I just think everyone should have this damn font lol.
Okay I’ve decided to do a giffing tutorial, but in video format because sometimes caps and explanations aren’t enough. For the record, this will cover taking your own caps, creating actions, using actions, making a gif and putting text onto that gif. The videos are separated and short so you don’t have to suffer through the entire thing if you only want an explanation of one aspect over another.
I use CS5. And if you have any questions at all, drop me an ask and I’ll do my best to explain with words :)
Also I know my audio gets shitty at points but I don’t think it cut anything vital - it’s just that my laptop can’t DO things and record my voice apparently lol. This is behind a readmore to save your dashes lol ;)
